Want to know more about the fit kit we can’t stop talking about? The MorfBoard is now live on Kickstarter so we decided to catch up with its founder, Eitan Kramer. To put it simply, the MorfBoard is the latest piece of kit that you need in your life, pronto. It’ll transform your workouts, transform how you feel about working out (boring gym sessions? No more, my friend) and well, quite possibly transform your life. We find out everything you need to know in this Q&A.

Firstly, what is MorfBoard?

MorfBoard is the worlds first action sports-inspired fitness system that turns a serious workout into play. Its a single piece of equipment with four attachments – we call them X-Tensions” – that turn it into a skateboard, a balance board, a rebounder, and a resistance trainer. You can change it from one to another in no time. That means you can get a crazy, super-versatile workout and have a great time doing it.

How and why did you come up with the idea for MorfBoard?

Im a personal trainer and I love fitness. Unfortunately, a lot of people really dont. So I needed to come up with a creative way to get people to look forward to their workouts and have a good time.

Before I was a trainer, I was a pro-action sports athlete. Back then, I spent all day doing what I loved and that happened to be a great workout. I realised that if I could get people to have the sort of experience in fitness that I had as an action sports athlete, everybody would win.

What sets MorfBoard apart from other fitness apparatus?

A whole lot.

First of all, its designed to be fun. You can bounce on it, you can roll on it, you can rock back and forth on it. And it will always keep you engaged. Beyond that, its a super-easy, incredibly versatile fitness system. We made it so its plug-and-play, which means you can switch from one mode to the next in seconds. Whether you want to use it as a skateboard for lunges or a rebounder for getting your cardio or using bands for resistance training, itll deliver a great workout.

Its mobile, its compact, its effective and its pretty badass.

How do you think MorfBoard can fit into a busy schedule?

Because its portable, you can take it anywhere. This is a full fitness system that you can fit in a bag, so it can adapt to your busy schedule. And because its so much fun, its something youll look forward to doing. You wont have to shoehorn it into your schedule, youll want to make time for it. At least we think so.

Have you faced any challenges along the way in the creation of MorfBoard?

Yeah, of course. Ive spent three years on this thing, and weve had gigantic challenges every few months – just like anyone trying to do something big. For three years, I was training full-time and trying to launch a company. And to raise money. And to do R&D. With just one partner. Finding the right team was really difficult, but I think our persistence is really starting to pay off.

What can people do now to get involved with and support MorfBoard?

I. Love. That. Question. Were on Kickstarter now, so you can go to our Kickstarter page and be a part of the dream and journey. You can also tell everybody you know about us, and you can like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter and Instagram.

Before creating MorfBoard, you were a professional inline halfpipe skater. How did you get into that?

When I was a kid, one of my buddies in school bought a pair of blades, and I loved them so much that I begged my parents to get me a pair. I skated every day. It was all I could think about, and I got good. I was fortunate enough to have some great mentors. I got noticed in Central Park, and I turned pro about a year-and-a-half later.

You had a lot of success during your skating career maintaining a top 5 ranking throughout. What would you say your success was down to?

There was a certain level of natural talent, but beyond that, I practised all the time. Because I loved it. And I wanted to keep on learning new tricks. So my success really had a lot to do with my passion for the sport.

You also earned a world record for the highest air on halfpipe. How did it feel knowing youd broken a world record?

It felt amazing. My greatest passion in skating was flying through the air, and the guys at MTV built the biggest halfpipe ever constructed to that point. I was a kid in a candy store.

What made you stop skating professionally?

After that Big Air contest at MTV, I got some pretty good recognition. For me, as a Big Air skater, it was the pinnacle of my career. I was given an opportunity to go to New York and model with one of the biggest agencies at the time, and within a few months I was in Italy, running around to castings during show season. I worked, but it was a stark contrast to being a pro athlete. I didnt have control over my own career, so I went back to school, got my degree from UCLA, and went back to my first passion of movement.

Youve now been a personal trainer for the last 10 years. What made you get into this?

As an athlete, you intuitively understand how the body works, so it was a natural next step. Plus, I love fitness, and as a trainer, I can try to instill that love in other people.

Have you always held an interest in health and fitness?

Yes, movement and fitness has been in my blood since I was a kid.

What do you do in your downtime when you’re not personal training or MorfBoarding?

Im with Maggie. My dog. Everywhere. All the time. We have this ritual where every Sunday, before anyone else is up, we go for a two hour walk up the Malibu coast. It’s the absolute most fun part of her week, and, as a result, one of the most fun parts of mine.
